Hello, my name is Surianne.
I was born on the 'Rock ' of Gibraltar ... Gibraltar is situated at the southern tip of Europe, neighbouring Spain and Morocco, and is one of Britain's few remaining colonies. But best of all... it's VAT free!
I am an unsigned singer / songwriter and I play a mix of Latin / Rock / Folk music. I have been performing for over 3 years at a number of venues and festivals in and outside the UK such as The Twelve Bar, The Maze, Nottingham Riverside Festival, The Beverley Folk Festival and The Arboretum Festival. In the past I have supported artists such as Suzanne Vega, Breed 77 and Steve Balsamo and in 2005, I was nominated a Birmingham Music Award for best Unsigned / Unplugged Act.
My music style is derived from a blend of various cultures, inspired by warm summer nights and Mediterranean grooves. I remain loyal to my roots being strongly influenced by the fusion of acoustic guitar sounds and driving percussive rhythms and my songs are comprised of infectious melodies and soaring vocals, complemented by my bandmates; talented friends who's understanding of my music has helped create what you hear.
My music is currently receiving airplay in a number of internet radio stations as well as FM radio stations such as BBC China, BFBS Gibraltar, The A list Sessions at pulserated.com, Sheffield Live FM, WHSmith and Bookers Cash & Carry unsigned show in the UK and Sky channel 905 in the UK.
I enjoy writing, performing and I appreciate many different styles of music. I am always open to new projects and influences and I try to get involved in as many collaborations as possible; in Dec 2005 I co – wrote and featured in ‘Amor’, a track that forms part of The Reggaeton Allstars project released in the USA and in Jan 2006 I featured in Ted Mauls debut single ‘And We Tolerate The Sickness’.
I am currently in the process of recording a new EP that should be completed by March 2007, so watch this space...
